Linhares da Beira

The Biosphere Certified label is awarded after verifying that sustainable practices are being implemented correctly. This is a guarantee that the organisation is complying with the commitments it has made.

A 12th century medieval village, Linhares da Beira has an unparalleled architectural and artistic diversity, the result of the legacy of several eras. In 1169 it received its first charter, granted by Alfonso Enríquez. But it was only later, during the reign of King Dinis, that the imposing castle was erected, a symbol of the town and the main visiting card of the present day. To wander through the streets of this museum town is to make an incursion into the past, into its history, and to feel how the breeze of the Mondego Valley caresses our face.
